Welcome to the Planning and Building Department.

Meaford's Planning and Building Department's role is to assist Council, the development community and the public in matters relating to land use planning, building construction and By-law enforcement.

The Planning and Building Department is comprised of three sections: Planning, Building and By-law Enforcement.

The Department is responsible for maintaining and updating the Municipalities Official Plan and Zoning By-law as well as enforcement of the Zoning By-law, the Ontario Building Code, Property Standards By-law, Long Grass / Noxious Weeds By-law, Drainage and Grading By-law and Swimming Pool Fence By-law.  The Department is also responsible for the processing and administration of various planning applications, the administration of the Committee of Adjustment and Technicial Development Review Committee.

The Planning and Building Department responds to general inquiries related to land use, site development and building construction. The Department is also responsible for the preparation of statistical information and mapping for the Municipality.
